Ways of Giving

THE ANNUAL FUND

The Annual Fund is the bedrock of the School's fundraising efforts.  Every year the money raised by our Annual Fund campaign is used to operate many of the essential programs at the School.  Its reach is significant.  Among other things, gifts to the Annual Fund provide the necessary dollars to recruit and pay our exceptional faculty, develop and expand our sports offerings, extend the use of technology in the classroom, and keep our campus looking beautiful.  Tuition alone cannot support the School.

Gifts to the Annual Fund can be made at anytime during the year in a variety of ways:

    * Checks made payable to The Heights School Annual Fund
    * Online using a direct debit from a checking or savings account
    * Online using a credit card
    * Wire Transfer directly into The Heights School account
    * Gifts of appreciated stock (see below)

Giving appreciated stock offers you a two-fold tax benefit.  First, you avoid paying any capital gains on the increased value of the stock.  Second, you receive a tax deduction worth the full market value of the stock on the date of your gift.  As an example, if you donate to the School one share of GE stock that you purchased for $100 in 1995 and is valued at $150 today, you will avoid paying any tax on the $50 gain from your original investment and you will be allowed to claim a charitable contribution of $150 that is 100% tax deductible.

THE TOWER CAMPAIGN

In contrast to Annual Fund gifts, which are part of the current fiscal year’s operating budget and support day-to-day requirements, capital gifts to The Heights are necessary to launch specific programs and building projects that are essential to the long-term future of the School.  These giving needs are identified through careful strategic planning of the Board of Directors.

In the spring of 2006, the Board of Directors approved the public launch of the Tower Campaign.  The purpose of the Tower Campaign is to raise unrestricted dollars for a long-term investment fund for the School.  With careful management, the fund will provide a new source of revenue to help the School offset its growing operating expenses for generations to come and to implement its Campus Master Plan.  The Tower Campaign is the most ambitious fundraising endeavor in the School’s history.  All members of the Heights community are invited to participate.

Gifts to The Tower Campaign can be made at anytime during the year in a variety of ways:

    * Checks made payable to The Heights School Tower Campaign
    * Online using a direct debit from a checking or savings account
    * Online using a credit card
    * Wire Transfer directly into The Heights School account
    * Gifts of appreciated stock
