In his twenty-second year since joining The Heights faculty in 1989, Al Battista has served as a teacher, athletic director and coach.  He currently teaches middle school geography.  A former coach of middle school baseball, Al was the award-winning coach of the varsity baseball team.  Among the many coaching honors he has received, Al Battista was named “Coach of the Year” by The Washington Post, The Gazette and The Journal newspapers.  He is a graduate of American University. Al recently co-authored Beyond the Rules:  Techniques, Tips, and Best Practices for Scholastic/Collegiate Basketball Officiating.
