8th-2007 Team Summary - Home
The Heights 2007 eighth grade soccer season was one of ups and downs. The season opened with a close loss to Landon, after being tied late into the second half. Despite the following 2 games being scoreless losses, the team came back strong with a scoring frenzy against Avalon in the 4th game of the season, winning 5-1. The 8th grade Cavaliers went on to avenge their previous loss to St. Albans in a 2 – 0 victory on the bulldog’s home turf. The season culminated in the final game, in a rematch against a stellar Georgetown Day School team that had handed the Heights a 4 – 0 loss earlier in the season. The Heights rose to the challenge and took a 2 – 0 lead, holding off to win 3 – 2 (goals by Hadford and Ganassa), to dish GDS one of their only losses of the season. The offense was piloted by the team leader in assists and team captain Hank Brown as well as the duo of strikers, Mark Ganassa and Jack Lawrence. Controlling the mid-field was captain Cayman Sotudeh and Daniel Pluta. While Joe Desmond, Grant Bodnar, and goalie Luke Winkler anchored the defense.
