2007 Team Summary - Home
In 2007 the Heights varsity cross country team enjoyed its most successful season in many years. The harriers began their season with a good showing at the Wooward Relays against the best public and private schools in the area. Later in September at a meet at Glenelg school, the Heights runners Tim Hadley, Tim Vaughan, Matthew Sushinsky, and Miguel Lulli took the first four places helping the Heights easily defeat the other eight schools. They took first place at the next meet as well, beating such impressive teams as Georgetown Prep, Landon, Episcopal, and Bishop Ireton. Then the Heights harriers traveled to Mercersburg Penssylvania to race against private schools from all over the mid-Atlantic region. Though star runner Migeul Lulli had suffered a seaon-ending injury, the team finished in fifth place, our best showing ever at this meet. At the second Glenelg meet, junior runner Sebastian Lulli stepped up to fill the void left by his brother and once again the Heights came in one, two, three, four. Then the team repeated as Landon Inivtational runners-up against another impressive field. The last meet of the season, as always, was the Baltimore/Washington Private Schools Championship at which all of the strong teams from Maryland and DC compete. The local running publications were predicting the Heights as the strong favorite to win the small schools division and defeat longtime rival Saint Andrews. Ultimately, the Heights did not disappoint and rather handily despatched their competition. Junior Tim Hadley crossed the finish line first as the individual winner, and the team was crowned State Champions! In fact, they beat most of the large schools in the race as well.
