MS @ Bullis - Away
This, our first meet of the year, was full of success and excitement. Everyone performed very well! We even had some Heights middle school records. James Herreck broke his own discuss record of 82 feet with a soring toss of 112'11"!!!! Many Infante also made it into the record books with a 78'11" toss for 2nd best ever. On the track, Greg Hadley shattered the 2nd place all-time mark in the 1600 with a 5:21, 17 seconds faster than the old mark while Phillip Allen tied the old mark. One 7th grader, Adrien Soos, broke the 6 minute mark with a 5:54. We clearly dominated the meet. Although the official results are not in yet, I do believe we won all but one event! Way to go guys.

MS @ Landon - Away
Great meet. We came in second to a loaded Landon team. Again everyone gave it their all. Some of the notable performances were: James Herrick ran a 2:29 800 which is good for second all time at the Heights. John Hyland was close to a Heights record in the 100 with a 12.9. Michael Kibbe ran a season best for the team in the 200 with a 30.25. Three guys, Pluta herrick and Beaty broke 70 seconds in the 400. Again we had 3 guys run under 6 minutes in the mile -- Hadley, Allen and Rezende. Kolb beat his best time by 36 seconds, breaking 7 minutes for the first time!!! Manny Infante came in second in the hurdles followed closely by Alex deAlmeida who dropped 2 minutes off his previous time. Iggy sanchez dropped 3 seconds!!! In the discuss, Paul Pedersen threw 15 feet further than his previous best. He als improved in the shot by 2 feet as did Wolfe.

MS @ Landon Invitational - Away
4/24/08
The Carlos Parsons Invitational was a relay meet. As such, there was no individual scoring. Even in the few events where individuals competed, were scored as a team. For instance, James Herrick had the longest discuss throw (as usual) but Landon had the 2nd and 3rd best throwers, so they came in first and Manny and James combined for 2nd place. Overall, we came in 6th out of the 10 teams. Particularly good performances were turned in by Greg Hadley in the 1600; Manny had a best time in the hurdles; the 1600 relay of Pluta, Allen, Hadley and Herrick came in 3rd. All the relays were significantly better than in the past thanks to Ms. deAlmeida’s expert assistance with batton hand-off training. All in all, it was a great meet.

MS @ Sidwell - Away
4/30/08
Sidwell was overwhelmed with the large numbers of last minute team entries so this was not a scored meet – too bad since The Heights dominated most events. As usual, Herrick won the discuss. Danny Pluta tied The Heights middle school record in the 400 with a 63. Hadley crushed his PR in the 1600 going 5:13! James Herrrick was somehow put in the slowest heat of the 800 and almost lapped the field with and event winning and PR 2:26. Kibbe had a best time in the 100. The hurdles showed best times by Manny, John Hyland and Alex deAlmeida who dropped over 2 seconds. The 200 relay was a joy to watch as we came from behind to place second to Sidwell’s stacked team.
