8th Grade Lacrosse Summary - Heights
The Heights 8th Grade team finished 7-1 this season with their only lost coming to a tough St. Stephens St Agnes team. The team was led by the scoring combo of Chris Hampton and Hank Brown who dominated all season long. The supporting cast of middies werejust as impressive, seeing Caymen Sotduh, Austin Smith, Mike Friddle, Chas Bassing and Toby Sanders all score in games throughout the year. The attack was led by Richard McBride who had a knack for finishing off fast breaks. Mark Ganassa played well all year long and stepped up in the last two games of the year scoring five goals . Sean Heaslip was a jack of all trades playing attack and goalie when called on. Jamie Hanson also played well and was asked to play different roles throughout the year. Mike Friddle made great strides this year and was a solid middie for us. As did Chas Bassing who was a in his first year of lacrosse and picked up the game quickly. Luke Miller was a fantastic leader playing whatever position was asked of him from goalie, middie or longstick middie. The Defense was great all year with Joe Desmond,Joe Simpson, Grant Bodnar and Adam Bacigalupo. Liam Tully also gave valuable mintues on the attack. On a couple of side notes this team has had a record of 17-1 over the last two years after only winning one game in their 6th grade season. They also outscored their opponents this year 84-20. It's been a pleasure coaching these guys and watching them grow into fine young men.
