The Heights 23 Key School 2:
The Cavs started the 2008 season with a convincing victory over key School. Offensively, the Cavs recorded 13 hits and 3 home runs, 2 by Senior shortstop Ryan Lundregan the other a grand slam by Senior center fielder Jonathan Royden. Both Royden and Lundregan drove in 6 runs. Other offensive contributors were Sophmore second baseman Sebastian Loria who had 3 hits and 5 RBI and Junior third baseman Paul Capretta with two hits and 2 RBI. Junior Designated Hitter Chase McDonough and Senior rightfielder Jack Kitchen each chipped in with 3 runs scored. The defense was led by Junior Nick Lulli who threw four no hit shutout innings, while recording 3 strikeouts to notch his first career win. - 03/15 - 10:00 am

The Heights 7 St. John's Catholic Prep 4:
The Cavs were able to escape a 3 run first inning to record their second victory of the year. Led by the pitching of Jonathan Royden and Alex Eliopoulos, The Heights only surrendered one run after the first inning. Royden recorded his first win of the year and Eliopoulos his first save. Offensively, the Cavs were led by Junior shortstop Tim Hadley (2 doubles, 3 RBI), Senior catcher Jack Kitchen (1 triple, RBI), Royden (2hits, 1 RBI) and Eliopoulos (single, double, 2 runs scored).

Seton 13 The Heights 7:
The Cavs dropped the championship game of their onw tournament to Seton High School from Manassas. Paced by a six run third inning Seton was avle to hold off a late offensive surge by the Cavs. Leading the Cavs were Junior left fielder Tim Hadley (triple, 2 runs scored) and Junior first baseman Leo Naegle (3 hits, RBI). Senior Alex Eliopoulos recorded his first loss of the year. All tournament honors went to Hadley and Senior Jonathan Royden.

St. Anselm's 16 The Heights 6:
The Heights was unable to recover from an 8 run St. Anselm's first inning and dropped their second game of the year. Sophmore Sebastian Loria recorded his second career loss, as the Cavs went down 16-6. Amongst the few offensive stars was Junior second baseman Nick Lulli who recorded a 4thi inning opposite field RBI double to score Javier Pluta. Otherwise, it was a forgettable day for the Cavs, who now sit 2-2.

The Heights 11 Jewish Day 0:
Senior Alex Eliopoulos and Junior Nick Lulli combined on a two hit shutout as The Heights snapped a two game losing streak against Jewish Day. Eliopolous recorded 5 strikeouts in 3.1 innings to record his first win of the season. Junior Catcher Chase McDonough got the scoring started with a solo home run to left field to lead off the game. The Cavs were able to build on the lead with a 5 run third inning on the heels of 3 consecutive RBI hits by Eliopoulos, Junior center fielder Tim Hadley and Junior first baseman Leo Naegle. Naegle also added a sublime running catch on a ball in foul territory int he fourth inning. Overall, the Cavs sit at 3-2 and host Trinity Christian School Wednesday March 26th at 430 PM, when Senior Jack Kitchen will get the start.

The Heights 10 Trinity Christian 0:
The Cavs recorded their second straight win with a home victory over Trinity Christian Wednesday. Senior Jack Kitchen and Junior Matt Stamm combined for the team's second straight two hit shutout. Kitchen improved his fantasy stats by recording his fifth career win and first of the season. Offensively, the Cavs got contributions throughout the lineup. Junior left fielder Cyrus Fardoust contributed a 3rd inning double and Junior centerfielder Richard Hildreth had a second inning RBI single. Overall, the Cavs recorded their fourth win of the year and look forward to their Old Line Basbeall Conference opener Thursday versus Riverdale Baptist when Junior Nick Lulli will get the start. - 03/27 - 4:00 pm

Riverdale 15 The Heights 9:
In the first ever Old Line Baseball Conference game, The Heights lost to Riverdale 15-9. Junior Nick Lulli suffered his first varsity loss after surrendering 8 runs in 4 innings. Offensively, the Cavs were nearly able to keep pace as they recorded 16 hits, 4 by Senior left fielder Jack Kitchen (three doubles, RBI, BB, run scored). Alex Eliopoulos, Jonathan Royden, Sebastian Loria, Richard Hildreth and Paul Capretta each had 2 hits. Overall, the Cavs played very well but were unable to match Riverdale's offensive output. Next up for The Heights is Archbishop Carroll on Friday at 4 PM at The Heights. Sophomore Sebastian Loria will get the starting nod.

Sophomore Pitcher Sebastian Loria recorded his first win of the season as The Heights routed Carroll 17-2. Loria recorded a career high 9 strikeouts and notched his second career win. Offensively, the Cavs got three hits from Junior first baseman Leo Naegle and two hits each from Seniors Alex Eliopoulos and Jack Kitchen. Junior catcher Paul Capretta chipped in with a second inning triple. Overall, the Cavs sit at 5-3 and head into a big matchup with Landon on Saturday. Senior Pitcher Alex Eliopoulos struck out 11, while scattering 2 hits and 0 earned runs in seven innings. It was the first complete game victory and 10th win of Eliopoulos' career. Offensively, The Heights got 2 hits from Seniors Jack Kitchen, Ryan Lundregan and Jonathan Royden, Juniors Javier Pluta, Paul Capretta and Richard Hildreth. THe Heights recorded its 5th win in 6 games as four pitchers combined to shutout Barrie Day School. Senior Jack Kitchen worked three innings scattering one hit and striking out 1 to notch his second win on the season. Jonathan Royden, Leo Naegele and Ryan Lundregan combined to finish the game as The Heights recorded its third shutout in the last 6 games. Offensively, the team got contributions from many players. Royden had two hits and 4 RBI, while Lundregan had a hit and 3 runs scored. The Heights dropped a heartbreaker to league rival Avalon, 4-3 on Tuesday. Senior Alex Eliopoulos gave the Cavs 5 strong innings surrendering only 1 run, but the team was unable to hold the lead as Avalon managed a 2 out 2 run rally in the bottom of the seventh. Offensively, Senior shortstop Ryan Lundregan led the way with two triples, while Senior centerfielder Jonathan Royden chipped in with two hits and two RBIs. Unfortunately, the Cavs were only able to manage 3 runs and fell to 0-2 in Old Line Baseball Conference play. The Heights was able to bounce back after dropping a tough game to Avalon and won 19-0. Junior Nick Lulli recorded his second career win and was joined on the shutout by classmates Matt Stamm and Tim Hadley. Offensively, the Cavs got contributions from many players. Amongst them were Senior Alex Eliopoulos (2 triples, 2 runs, 3 RBI), Junior Gillum Ferguson (1 double, 1 run, 2 RBI), Sophomore Sebastian Loria (2 hits, 2 RBI) and Junior Chris Tansey who recorded his first career hit with a third inning leadoff single.
Next up for the Cavs is Word of Life. Hadley gets the starting nod.

Senior Jack Kitchen won his third game of the year as The Heights dominated Elkton Christian in the first end of a doubleheader. Unfortuately, Kitchen added a blemish to his perfect fantasy season as he surrendered his first earned run. Otherwise, it was an error free effort for the Cavs.

Sebastian Loria struck out 4 and won his second game of the year as the Cavs prevailed in the nightcap of a double header with Elkton Christian. Offensively, the Cavs got contributions from Junior third baseman Richard Hildreth (3 walks, 3 runs scored), Junior right fielder Chris Tansey (1 hit, 2 RBI, 1 dive into home plate), and Junior first baseman Giillum Ferguson (2 runs scored). Overall the Cavs sit at 11-4 and will look to get thier first OLBC win against Spencerville Academy on Monday when Senior ace Alex Eliopoulos will take the hill.

The Heights dropped a conference heart breaker to Spencerville Academy and fell to 0-3 in Old line Baseball Conference play. Spencerville's pitcher held the Cavs to only 2 runs (both driven in by Junior Leo Naegele in the first inning). Senior pitcher Alex Eliopoulos was able to give the team 5 strong innings surrendering only one run but the team was unable to close the game.

Washington Christian 9 The Heights 8:
The Heights lost a conference showdown with Washington Christian, 9-8. Senior Jonathan Royden started the game and was relieved by Junior Matt Stamm, who unfortunately recorded his first career loss. Offensively, the Cavs did have a few standouts. Senior Alex Eliopoulos launched a fifth inning home run, his second of the year. Leo Naegele, Richard Hildreth, Ryan Lundregan and Jack Kitchen each chipped in with two hits. The Cavs will try to get back in the win column against Field School Thursday when Kitchen gets the starting nod.

The Heights got back on the winning track with a dominating pitching performance from Senior Jack Kitchen. In seven shutout innings, Kitchen scattered only 3 hits, walking none and striking out 5 to record his fourth win of the season. Offensively, the Cavs got doubles from Kitchen and Paul Capretta. The Cavs now sit at 12-6, with the Wilson Tournament this weekend.

The Heights 17 Maret 7:
The Heights survived a 4 run Maret first inning to defeat the Frogs 17-4 in the first round of the Wilson Tournament. Senior Pitcher Alex Eliopoulos settled down after the first inning to record 9 strikeouts in a complete game victory over Maret. It was Eliopoulos's 3rd win of the season and 11th of his career, leaving him two shy Head Coach Brian Carroccio's career mark. Offensively, the Cavs had many stars. Sophmore Sebastian Loria scored 4 runs, Senior Ryan Lundregan had a double, home run and 5 RBI, Junior Paul Capretta had 3 walks, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored, and Eliopoulos chipped in with two hits and an rbi. It was the Cavs thirteenth win on the season. Also, the game saw the return of Junior Chase McDonough from a shoulder injury. McDonough was limited to fielding duty and started at first base for the Cavs.
Wilson 15 The Heights 4:
The Heights ran out of steam in the championship round of the Wilson tournament losing 15-4. Junior pitcher Tim Hadley recorded 4.1 innings in relief only surrendering one run and striking out 2. Offensively, the Cavs could not get much going although they did get a 3rd inning triple from Senior Ryan Lundregan, and two hits from Senior Alex Eliopoulos. Other Cavaliers recording hits were Senior Jack Kitchen, Sophomore Sebastian Loria, and Junior Paul Capretta. The team now sits at 13-7 with a game versus the Mighty Hoppers of Georgetown Day Tuesday at The Heights. - 04/21 - 4:00 pm

The Heights 9 Spencerville 1:
Senior Pitcher Jack Kitchen went seven strong innings for his second straight complete game victory as The Heights earned their first Old Line Baseball Conference victory against the Hornets of Spencerville. Offensively, the Cavs were sparked by a 7 run second inning on the heels of three straight doubles by Sebastian Loria, Tim Hadley and Richard Hildreth. Hildreth's flew over the right field fence putting a scare into Coach Mitchell on the lacrosse field. Other contributors included Paul Capretta and Leo Naegele each with 2 RBI, and Nick Lulli with a walk, run scored, hit and a beautiful 9-3 play from rightfield in the sixth inning. The game also saw the return of Heights' leadoff man Chase McDonough who saw his first at bats in nearly a month, recording 2 hits, one run and an RBI. The Heights will square off with Bullis next.

The Heights 18 Bullis 8:
The Heights moved to 2-0 against IAC teams on the year with an 18-8 win against Bullis. Junior Tim Hadley threw 4.2 strong innings before giving way to Sophomore Sebastian Loria who earned his first career save. Offensively, The Heights had plenty of strong showings. Amongst them were Senior Jack Kitchen (double, single, walk, 3 runs, 3 rbi), Senior Ryan Lundregan (3 runs, 2 doubles, 4 RBI), Hadley (2 hits, walk, 3 runs scored), Richard Hildreth (triple, hit by pitch, 2 runs scored) Javier Pluta (hit, 2 walks, 3 runs scored) and Paul Capretta (2 walks, 3 runs scored). The Heights 4 Avalon 2:
The Heights won their third straight with a 4-2 victory over Avalon in the final of the Bullis tournament. With great defensive support, Senior Pitcher Alex Eliopoulos surrendered two first inning runs and would not be scored upon again, as he threw a complete game victory against the Black Knights. It was his fourth win of the year and and 12th of his career. Senior Jonathan Royden got the offense started with an RBI single in the first inning. The Heights would get 3 more in the fourth inning and that was all the scoring the Cavs would need. Defensive standouts included Senior shortstop Ryan Lundregan who took part in 3 double plays and Junior leftfielder Javier Pluta who made a diving catch in the fifth inning and turned a double play to kill a potential Avalon rally. The Cavs now sit at 16-7 with Old Line rival Washington Christian up next.

Sophomore Sebastian Loria was dominant in 5 shutout innings against the Wildcats. Offensivley, the Cavs were led by Junior Catcher Chase McDonough (4 hits, 2 runs, 1 stolen base, `1 RBI), Senior Jack Kitchen (2 runs, 1 hit, 1 RBI), and Junior Tim Hadley (single triple, 5 RBI). The Cavs now sit at 17-7 with Senior Day Wednesday against Trinity Christian.

The Heights 8 Trinity Christian 4:
Junior Nick Lulli recorded his third win of the season on Senior Day against Washington Christian. He was aided by three other pitchers Jack Kitchen, Tim Hadley and Alex Eliopoulos, who pitched the seventh inning and recorded his second save on the year. Offensiviely, the Cavs had many standouts. Amongst them were Senior Second Baseman Nick Sarris with a 4th inning RBI dragbunt that scored Junior Richard Hildreth. Junior first baseman GIllum Ferguson (double, single, RBI, run scored), Junior third baseman Chase McDonough (3 hits, 2 runs, stolen base, RBI) and Senior Jonathan Royden (double, single, RBI, 2 runs, stolen base) also added to the Cavs offensive output. Next up for The Heights is Old Line powerhouse Riverdale Baptist.

The Heights was unable to get going offensively and dropped a 6 inning 12-1 decision to Riverdale. Junior Tim Hadley started the game strong giving up only 3 runs through 4 innings but The Heights was uanble to maintain pace. The Cavs got 2 hits from Junior rightfielder Leo Naegele, one from Junior leftfielder RIchard Hildreth and one from Junior third baseman Nick Lulli. That was it however and the Cavs fell to 2-5 in conference play, but sit at 18-8 overall. Next up for The Heights is another conference game with Avalon at home on Monday.

The Heights 3 Avalon 2:
The Cavs recorded their 19th win of the season in a 3-2 victory over league rival Avalon. Senior Pitcher Alex Eliopoulos started and gave the Cavs 4 strong innings before giving way to Sophomore Sebastian Loria who avenged the loss he suffered to Avalon in last year's season finale, by recording his fourth win of the year. Offesnively, the Cavs struggled but got enough production to hang on for th win. Junior Leo Naegele scored two of the runs while Senior Jonathan Royden scored the other. Naegele's second run came in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by classmate Chase McDonough. Up next for The Heights is Old Line playoff action with Spencerville on Wednesday.

The Cavs opened Old Line playoff action with a 9-0 victroy over the Hornets of Spencerville. Senior Jack Kitchen pitched 6 strong innings before giving way to Junior Matt Stamm who finished the combined shutout. It was Kitchen's sixth win of the year as he recorded a career high 11 strikeouts. Offensively, the Cavs were led by Sophomore second baseman Sebastian Loria who recorded his first career home run with a shot to right that nearly hit Coach Mitchell on the lacrosse field in the third inning. Loria added a double, single and 5 RBI.The Cavs also got contributions from Jonathan Royden (2 hits, stolen base, 2 RBI), Jack Kitchen (3 walks, 2 runs) and Ryan Lundregan (hit, 2 runs, stolen base). Next up for the Cavs is a league semi-final game with Riverdale Baptist. - 05/08 - 7:00 pm

The Cavs jumped out to the early lead with a double by Junior leadoff man Chase McDonough and RBI groud ball from Alex Eliopoulos but were unable to maintain pace with top seed Riverdale. Starting pitcher Tim Hadley held Riverdale to only one run through 3 innings but was unable to escape a 4 run Crusader fourth inning. The Cavs have off until next Wednesday when they begin state playoff play against league rival Spencerville Academy at The Heights.
