Ways To Give

For 40 years, Heights parents, alumni, grandparents and friends have been actively engaged in the lifeblood of the School.  Their spirit of volunteerism and financial generosity has been vital to the School’s success. We are proud of this tradition.  Yet, every year we begin anew.  Every year there are new needs – and new opportunities for growth.

We welcome the participation of parents and friends of the School and want members of the community to understand the School’s needs and see the opportunity to become invested in the life and work of The Heights. The Crescite Fund

Giving each year to The Crescite Fund (formerly known as the Annual Fund) is the starting point for supporting the School financially.  Representing almost 20% of current-year student program expenditures, gifts to the Crescite Fund directly benefit our students through programs like Advisory, athletics and fine arts.

Ways of giving to The Crescite Fund:

  • Make a gift online
  • Checks: Please make checks payable to The Heights School Crescite Fund and mail to The Heights School – Development Office – 10400 Seven Locks Road – Potomac, MD 20854.
  • Credit Cards: Give online or call our Development Office at 301.365.0227 ext. 130.
  • Securities: Giving appreciated stock offers a two-fold tax benefit by helping you avoid capital gains taxes as well as a tax deduction worth the full market value of the stock on the date of your gift. For stock transfer information please contact Rob Wright in our Development Office. 
  • Matching Gifts: Many companies match employee gifts to charitable organizations, potentially doubling or even tripling your gift to the school. Click here to see if your company matches gifts. We are happy to help you arrange for a matching gift.

The Tower Campaign

In the spring of 2006, the Board of Directors approved the public launch of the Tower Campaign with the purpose to raise unrestricted dollars for a long-term investment fund for the School. With careful management, the fund will provide a new source of revenue to help the School offset its growing operating expenses for generations to come and to implement its Campus Master Plan. The Tower Campaign is the most ambitious fundraising endeavor in the School’s history.

Gifts and pledges received to date total just over $13 million toward a goal of $15 million. Each member of the Heights community is invited and encouraged to participate by making an unrestricted charitable gift to the Tower Campaign, or a designated gift to the Chapel Fund, which has been established to purchase and maintain sacred items in the Chapel.

In contrast to Crescite Fund gifts, which are a critical part of the current fiscal year’s operating budget and support day-to-day requirements—and the most important gift parents, alumni and friends of The Heights can make to the School—capital gifts donated through the Tower Campaign to The Heights are necessary to launch specific programs and building projects that are essential to the long-term future of the School. These giving needs are identified through careful strategic planning of the Board of Directors.

You can give to The Tower Campaign any time in a variety of ways:

Memorial Gifts

Memorial Gifts may be made to either the Crescite Fund or the Tower Campaign by families and friends to honor the memories of deceased members of The Heights community.

Planned Giving

Remembering The Heights School in your will is an important way to support future generations of Heights men. The Heights is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) charitable organization. A gift to The Heights through your will is totally free of estate tax. A bequest to The Heights can be made by including the following words in your will or living trust:

I give, devise, and bequeath to The Heights School 10400 Seven Locks Road Potomac Maryland 20854 (insert amount of money, percentage of estate, or describe property) to be used for its educational purposes.

By making a gift to The Heights in your will or living trust you can support The Heights School and its work providing young men an outstanding education rooted in a firm moral foundation. You can leave a legacy helping mold young men to be shining examples of faith in action.
