Q:  Where is The Heights located?

A:  The Heights is situated in Potomac, MD. on a lovely wooded campus, convenient to both Virginia and District residents.

Q:  Does The Heights offer transportation assistance?

A:  Yes.  The Heights offers shuttle services to and from McLean and Great Falls, VA. and a courtesy shuttle to and from Grosvenor Metro.

 

Q:  Is there a dress uniform for a Heights student?

A:   No.  There is a dress code: Dress pants, shoes, shirt and tie (and sport coat for grades 8-12).   The colors and styles are at the students' discretion.  This freedom allows the students an opportunity to learn to dress professionally.

 

Q:  Is there any Financial Aid?

A:  Yes.  The Heights is extremely generous with F.A.  30% of Heights families are granted Financial Aid, totaling a dollar amount that accounts for 15% of the tuition revenue.

 

Q:  What are the Clans of the Crest?

A:  The four Clans of the Crest are Red Rose, White Lily, Gold Cross, and Red Cross.   Through three festival days, and other celebrations, the four Clans compete for the Tower, a trophy representing strength and vision.  The Clans are symbolic of virtues esteemed by all Heights men: friendship, pure love, love of God and service.

Q:  What is Opus Dei's involvement with The Heights?

A:  Opus Dei, a personal prelature of the Catholic Church, ensures that The Heights stays true to the teachings of the Catholic Church.  In addition, Opus Dei provides The School with our chaplains, who administer the sacraments on a daily basis. 

 

Q:  Is the faculty qualified?

A:  Yes.  Our faculty is our greatest asset.  Their primary goal is to mentor each student towards success as a well-rounded Christian gentleman.  They are also masters of their academic fields, who love what they teach.  Above 70% of the faculty have advanced degrees. 

 

Q:  What are we looking for in prospective students?

A:   The Heights School admits spirited and well-rounded young men.  Accepted students need to have demonstrated academic excellence and strong moral character.  Also, because The Heights recognizes our faculty as secondary educators, a key aspect of the admission process involves ascertaining that the applicants' parents share the vision of The School, and are determined to work together with the faculty in the education of their sons.
